What you will see:

· A panel giving you the history of this attractive, strong, 19^th century building with a combination of ancient Indian and Omani features of design.

· Artifacts excavated from the building giving the history of who lived here, when, their delicacies, the pottery they used and other interesting information.

· Panels of Pangani history: Ancient crafts, caravan routes, slave treatment, political struggles, etc.

· Photographs of Pangani during German rule and prior to that.

· Film showing the rehabilitation process of the building including the traditional production of lime

UZIKWASA was established in 2004 in Pangani District, Tanzania, to reach out, listen and encourage a voice amongst rural communities and engage them to find development solutions for themselves.

UZIKWASA’s outreach is implemented through transformative methodologies that address individual and collective behaviour change.

From the outset UZIKWASA has focused deep rather than wide, defining its setting geographically within one district in Tanzania in recognition of the fact that effective behavior change must reflect and draw on real understanding of the broader context ensuring relevance and ownership amongst target communities.

Today, UZIKWASA is increasingly recognized as one of the few organizations that can articulate what rural communities see as priorities.
